Salary: Level A: $69,148* - $93,830 p.a. (*PhD Entry Level A.6 $87,415p.a.) or Level B: $98,775 - $117,290 p.a., plus 9.5% superannuation. Level of appointment is subject to qualifications and experience.

The University of Melbourne has partnered with Microsoft Research and the Victorian State Government to establish the Centre for Social Natural User Interfaces (SocialNUI). Research in the Centre focuses on the social aspects of interactions with Natural User Interfaces (NUI). This research addresses new forms of human-computer interactions offered by emerging technologies.

SocialNUI operates as an autonomous research centre within the School of Computing and Information Systems at the University of Melbourne. The University of Melbourne and Microsoft Research share governance of the Centre.

Reporting to the Director of SocialNUI, you will work on one or more Social NUI research projects (details of research projects is available at You will be expected to work closely with other researchers in SocialNUI and will participate in the supervision of one or more graduate students. You will conduct independent research, leading to the preparation and publication of research outcomes in journals and at conferences.
