Job no: 0044235
Work type: Fixed Term
Location: Parkville

School of Mathematics & Statistics
Faculty of Science

Salary: $87,415 - $93,830 p.a. plus 9.5 % superannuation

This is an exciting opportunity to participate in cutting-edge research in statistical genetics. The postholder will work with Professor Balding to develop and apply new models for traits of interest – such as disease risk or physical characteristics – from genome-wide genetic predictors.  The goal is a unified model for understanding genetic mechanisms, for predicting disease risk or progression or for predicting drug response.  The models will be applied to large genomic datasets in public databases or available through collaborators.  We will work in collaboration with Dr Doug Speed, based in London and Aarhus, Denmark, developing work published recently in Nature Genetics (doi: 10.1038/ng.3865).  A research visit to one or both of these cities will be available, subject to satisfactory progress.
