About The Faculty of Arts, Strategy, Planning & Resources (SPR)

The Faculty of Arts Strategy, Planning & Resources (SPR) team is responsible for the effective management and leadership of the Faculty’s Budgets & Planning, Business Analytics and Performance, Finance and Accounting and OHS & Facilities portfolios. Arts SPR seeks to support business operations and the achievement of Faculty strategic and operational goals through the provision of high quality business support services and business partnering. Arts SPR are currently seeking an experienced senior manager to lead the SPR team for a period of 12 months.

Reporting to the Faculty Executive Director, the incumbent provides expert advice to the Dean, Faculty Executive Director and Faculty Executive regarding strategic plans and initiatives, infrastructure planning and on the financial and non-financial performance of the Faculty, its five academic Schools and Graduate School. The incumbent will be required to partner with Heads of Schools and Portfolio Managers to deliver financially responsible business plans and initiatives. Additionally, the SPR Manager is responsible for the Faculty’s facilities and infrastructure requirements, occupational health and safety responsibilities and risk register.

The role has significant input into strategic planning and project delivery with a primary focus of the role providing strategic support to Faculty & School initiatives and projects, which includes business case development and reporting and business analysis to support evidence based decision-making.

The position is a key interface with University Services and Chancellery and will use their influencing skills to advocate for the Faculty with respect to the University’s financial model, business analytics and infrastructure needs. The incumbent is required to develop, maintain, and remediate where necessary, effective working relationships with University colleagues to ensure productive and valuable working relationships.

About you - skills and attributes will be highly regarded:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline and or equivalent mix of education and significant relevant experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in effectively implementing major projects, including a proven ability to work with constraints to achieve outcomes;
  • Demonstrated capacity to think and plan strategically and to interpret financial models, analytics, reporting and advice;
  • Proficient in the use of data from multiple sources and the ability to develop business plans;
  • Ability to identify future risks and implement mitigation strategies;
  • Demonstrated commitment to high quality client service and continuous improvement;
  • Staff management experience with the ability to motivate and develop a high-performance team committed to excellent customer service;
  • Highly developed leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, including skills in team and internal relationship building, negotiation, influencing and motivation.
