The Department of Rural Health (DRH, University of Melbourne) has developed a partnership with the Academy of Sports, Health and Education (ASHE, University of Melbourne) and Goulburn Ovens TAFE, to support Aboriginal students to study nursing in Shepparton. Students are supported to apply, enrol and study a Diploma of Nursing and then transition, if desired, into a Bachelor of Nursing at La Trobe University. DRH provide academic tutoring to the students and ASHE provides general support to the program and students.
The program has grown, and DRH and ASHE seek student support to ensure these students progress through their studies. The role also includes administration, record keeping around enrolment, placements, study and student needs. This position will report to the Associate Lecturer in Aboriginal Health Education at the Department of Rural Health and work collaboratively with ASHE staff. The position is based in Shepparton.
