About the Department Mechanical Engineering (ME)
The School of Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure Engineering undertakes teaching and research across a range of disciplines that are internationally recognised for their contribution to fundamental research. It has a number of well-established industry linkages and international partnerships. It is building a vibrant profile of interdisciplinary research, working with industry with an aim to contribute to society. It offers a comprehensive range of accredited Master of Engineering and Master of Information Technology programs taught through the Electrical, Mechanical and Infrastructure departments as well as professional Masters programs. It has a substantial cohort of research higher degree students. A major focus of the school is to attract and retain outstanding and internationally recognised academic staff. The School is committed through strategy, culture and mentorship to increasing the number of female engineers and scientists on its staff.
We’ve already been joined by some of the best minds, and we’re now seeking a talented Lecturer (Level B) with a strong research background in Sustainable Engineering Science with a focus on experimentation, observations or analytical studies of Geophysical Fluid Dynamics, Urban fluid, atmospheric surface layer flow, mechanics and/or Turbulent fluid flow. Further, the following knowledge and skills are sought:
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with industry, government, research groups, diverse student cohort and a variety of other stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to work as an independent self-directed investigator and as a member of a research team, exhibited by high levels of motivation and leadership within a research group.
Demonstrated ability to interact positively and work co-operatively in a multi-disciplinary team environment and liaise with people from diverse backgrounds and at varied levels.
In this prominent position, you will join our academics and will enrich our collaborative, interdisciplinary research and teaching across our departments.
What you’ll be doing
In this role you will balance the priorities of developing a strong research portfolio in your field with delivering innovative teaching programs to our graduate and undergraduate students. You will lead the development and delivery of teaching programs for relevant subjects. Applying new and innovative teaching methods you will help our students grow and empower them to unlock their full potential. You will provide a significant degree of scholarly research initiative and collaboration in the discipline of Urban fluid mechanics, wind-tunnel experimentation and atmospheric turbulence and teach subjects to a standard that delivers a high quality learning experience for students in the Department of Mechanical Engineering or the Department of Infrastructure Engineering, as directed by the Head of Department or Deputy Head.
