We are seeking a highly motivated post-doctoral researcher to join the research program of Dr Alexander David Barrow within the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the Doherty Institute. The research program is focused on cancer immunology (Barrow et al. Cell, 2018) with a particular emphasis on understanding immune responses to brain cancers, such as glioma, and the Barrow lab enjoys strong ties with the laboratory of Dr Theo Mantamadiotis at the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre (VCCC) for this purpose (Daniel et al., Neuro-Oncology, 2018).

The position requires a highly motivated immunologist with a background in cellular immunology (T cell, NK cell, microglia or macrophage biology) and a strong interest in cell-based cancer immunotherapies (adoptive transfer and interventional). The position will involve combining expertise in cellular and molecular immunology. Key responsibilities will include ex-vivo genetic modification of T or NK cells, breeding and maintaining mouse colonies, functional analysis using standard immunological assays and testing of new immunotherapeutic targets in mouse tumour models and clinical cohorts. Accurate recording of results and the ability to meet project milestones is a key requirement.

The applicant should have a PhD in Immunology or a related discipline. The successful candidate will be expected to design, undertake and analyse experiments of independent and original research as well as assist in the training and mentoring of Honours and PhD students.
