About Research, Innovation and Commercialisation

Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) is the central facilitator of research funding in the University, taking advantage of the full diversity of research funding opportunities.

RIC provides services in four core areas, all of which overlap and are delivered in an integrated manner to researchers and research partners. Major Initiatives, Contracts and Grants (MICG) is one of these core areas and  supports the submission of grant proposals (Idea to Proposal) to a wide range of funders. In addition, it offers specialised support for large grants such as ARC Laureates, NHMRC Centres of Research Excellence and Co-operative Research Centres. MICG also supports Chancellery in managing and running internally funded research grants. In post-award (Contract to Output), MICG helps negotiate and sign contracts for research for both grants and non-grants, sets up research projects in our research management and financial systems and submits non-financial reports to funders on behalf of our researchers.

About the role

The Research Partnerships Manager supports the provision of high quality research grants support services (both pre and post award) that aim to increase the participation in international grant opportunities by academic staff from a broad range of disciplines. This role will be based in Germany and have a primary focus on the development of funding opportunities and applications, building of relationships with European based organisations (funders and partners) and provision of advice and guidance in relation to post award support. Funders in Germany will be the primary focus in the short term, with opportunity for the incumbent to identify additional target regions or sponsors. Market growth is expected.

The role will work closely with a team of Australian based staff, and will plan and oversee relationship management (both external and internal) and provision of specialist advice on all aspects of international grants management (with a focus of German-based funders), from oversight of applications processes and advice to applicants through to post award management and reporting.

About you

Together with tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline as well as with several years' experience in management and research grants administration, to be successful in this role you will be passionate about supporting research, international collaboration, continuous improvement and innovation, and have a proven record of influencing and engaging others with your leadership skills. You must have a strong customer centric focus to ensure you build strong working relationships.  Expert knowledge of international grant funding programs and funding rules, with specific knowledge in relation to German and the European Commission funding schemes also a must.
