The Research Fellow in Modelling Malaria is expected to develop mechanistic mathematical models that are capable of monitoring the progress of malaria elimination. As a result, this role will use and/or establish statistical inference techniques for the calibration of the model with available field data, and inform elimination strategies with the calibrated model. You will contribute to a larger program of malaria modelling at the University of Melbourne.
This role is funded by the Australian Research Council’s (ARC) Discovery Project of Associate Professor Jennifer Flegg, Associate Professor Jonathan Keith and Professor Kate Smith-Miles. The appointee will be a member of the School of Mathematics and Statistics, reporting to Associate Professor Jennifer Flegg.
You must have completed (or nearly completed) a PhD in applied mathematics or statistics, or related discipline and experience in at least one of the following topics: mathematical biology, mathematical modelling, agent-based modelling, computational Bayesian inference, optimisation.
This is a full-time fixed-term position for 3 years.
