About the role:
The Integrated Forest Ecosystem Research (IFER) research program within the School of Forest and Ecosystem Sciences, The University of Melbourne is aimed at improving land, fire and water management in Victoria forests.
This program requires the development of computer software to simulate fire regimes over multiple time scales to examine the potential impacts of fire management on risk to multiple assets in the landscape.
The successful applicant will work with a small team of programmers and scientists who are developing models for natural system management. The position will include management and further development of a professional codebase, supervision of a programmer and collaboration with researchers, technical staff and postgraduate students to deliver on the outcomes of the project.
