About the role

The Research Development Coordinator is responsible for leading the identification, targeted promotion and development or refinement of HERDC income categories 2 and 3 research funding opportunities, increasing research activity and supporting research excellence. This will involve coordinating services with other areas of university administration, in particular, Research Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) and Business Development teams.

The incumbent is responsible for working with the Faculty’s academic staff to support them in their efforts to fund research activity, particularly via preparing research contracts, developing proposals and budgets, and ensuring compliance with costing and pricing policies. It involves working closely with the Manager, Research, the Associate Dean Research and other senior academic staff to develop a systematic approach to opportunity identification, as well as undertaking specific projects relating to Faculty’s research-focussed strategic priorities.

About you

  • A tertiary qualification in the Humanities or Social Sciences with subsequent relevant experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education or training

  • Highly developed skills in written and verbal communication and proven ability to clearly communicate complex information and ideas in a succinct and concise way for a broad audience of stakeholders, with the ability to draft, edit content and critically evaluate proposals and applications to transform a concept into a full proposal

  • Demonstrated ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment, and to balance shifting and competing deadlines effectively

  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment and discretion and to handle sensitive information appropriately and confidentially

  • High levels of service orientation (internal and external clients) and demonstrated ability to manage a wide range of stakeholders and experience in working collaboratively across organisational boundaries

  • High-level problem solving and critical thinking skills, and a strategic approach
