Salary: $94,104 - $97,908 p.a. plus 17% superannuation. A loading to reflect specialist skills or experience may be considered.
This policy adviser role offers scope to influence directions during a watershed period in higher education policy. Major reforms are being implemented including the uncapping of demand and the Government has commissioned a review of University funding, offering scope for further fundamental reform in the sector. The University's Vice-Chancellor, Professor Davis, is Chair of Universities Australia, playing an important role in representing the sector to government.
In this role, you will be the University's key policy adviser to the Vice-Chancellor. You will suggest policy positions on core agenda items, develop submissions on government policy reviews, prepare speeches, represent the University at policy forums, and develop a network of contacts in government, business and academia.
We are seeking a candidate with: excellent knowledge of higher education policy; capacity to provide policy advice in a timely manner; excellent communication and influencing skills; and sound political awareness. At a time of great reform, the role offers major scope for contribution and development, including to become one of the important thought leaders in the sector.
