The Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (the Doherty Institute) is seeking an exceptional and visionary leader for the position of Director—Research, of the Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics (the Centre). The Centre will focus on a new global-scale research program with the mission to develop therapeutics for pathogens of pandemic potential.
The CGCPT will develop new technologies to treat future pathogens of pandemic potential. The Director—Research, will ensure high functioning integration of cross-mission technical cores relevant to the Centre, including high containment for in vitro and animal experiments, bioinformatics, genomics, computational science and other necessary technical platforms.
About You
You will have a distinguished international record in research and be experienced to support and integrate a large number of senior investigators leading innovative programs to develop breakthrough technologies needed for adaptable therapeutic platforms for pathogens of pandemic potential.
You will possess;
- A doctorate in a relevant discipline, with high-level experience in virology, immunology, drug development or therapeutics.
- A strong record of leadership of large scale, complex and successful scientific programs.
- A deep understanding of the role of discovery science in the development of ground-breaking inventions for the treatment of infectious diseases.
