About the Role

The University of Melbourne seeks an exceptional new Dean for the Faculty of Education, a role of significant weight and importance. The Dean will be the key figure responsible for leading the Faculty with vision, clarity and energy through its next chapter. Reporting to the Provost and supported by the Faculty leadership team, the Dean will be a distinguished professor with a proven record as a successful academic leader and manager.  They will support and emphasise the importance of culture and values in the Faculty of Education and bring integrity and collegiality to all aspects of their work as Dean.

What we are looking for

As the Dean, you will provide leadership across the Faculty’s disciplinary areas, responsible for developing strategic and operational plans that will shape the future of education and lead the Faculty of Education to new heights. Your high visibility and wide recognition in the field, both nationally and internationally, will be crucial. Equally important will be your role in university leadership, where your membership in the university executive and your contributions to cross-university collaboration will be highly valued.

You will also have

  • An outstanding record of academic achievement at full professorial level
  • An ability to lead, motivate and inspire in a complex organisation through clear vision, exemplary change leadership, communication and personal influence
  • An understanding of the higher education sector in Australia and/or internationally, including a sound knowledge of trends in management of contemporary universities in a rapidly changing environment
