UOM 9 – $139,693 - $145-339 p.a. plus 17% super

As required by clause 1.15.9 of the 2024 EA, current casual or fixed-term employees of the University will be provided with 7 days of prior opportunity to apply for and be considered for vacant continuing positions if they meet the following criteria:

About the Role
The Financial Manager at the Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics (CGCPT) will lead financial services, reporting, and business support, ensuring compliance and accuracy in financial operations. Reporting to the MRI accounting function and working with the CFO group, this role involves budget development, financial performance monitoring, and providing expert accounting advice. The manager will also prepare regular financial statements, engage with audit processes, and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead and manage the finance function: developing budgets, monitoring and reporting on financial performance at the organisation, portfolio and project level, to ensure the sustainable and efficient financial operation of the Centre.
  • Working collaboratively with the CFO Group and University Decision Support, develop system generated purpose built reports for the Board and other bodies as required.
  • Develop and manage budgets and forecasts and financial management planning for the Centre’s 20 year program.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively with clients and colleagues. They will exhibit initiative, flexibility, and self-motivation, with the ability to prioritize workloads, handle sensitive information confidentially, and convey complex financial matters in simple terms to non-financial staff.

You will also have:

  • A qualification as a certified practising accountant or a chartered accountant.
  • Extensive experience with accounting packages and with accounting systems such as Workday. Advanced skills and experience in using Excel.
  • Demonstrated financial management experience including reporting, a high level understanding of financial policies, practices and compliance issues.
  • Experience working with, reporting to and presenting to Boards and investors.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
