About the organisation

Established in 1853, the University of Melbourne is a leading international university with a tradition of excellence in teaching and research. With outstanding performance in international rankings, the University is at the forefront of higher education in the Asia-Pacific region and the world. Within the University of Melbourne and supported by the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity (the Doherty), the Cumming Global Centre for Pandemic Therapeutics (CGCPT) is a newly created mission-driven, global research centre to enable rapid design and development of therapeutics for future pandemics.

About the role

The Business Development Director CGCPT will provide full lifecycle research commercialisation leadership to the CGCPT, identifying and pursuing strategic partnerships and commercialisation avenues for the Centre’s newly developed research and IP assets. This includes working collaboratively to develop and drive business development strategy, identifying opportunities for growth, collaboration, and commercial partnership between researchers and external partners, and negotiating and closing transactions to the mutual benefit of the stakeholders and within the mission of the CGCPT.  As a newly created, senior role within the CGCPT, the Business Development Director will work to set up the CGCPT’s commercialisation function, leveraging the capabilities and resources of the University of Melbourne’s Faculty of Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS) and the University’s Research, Innovation and Commercialisation (RIC) Group to set the CGCPT up for a bright future as the world’s leading specialist pandemic therapeutics research centre.
