About the Role
This pivotal role will spearhead the transformation of student equity and disability services. As a key leader, you will play a pivotal role indesigning and delivering innovative support programs, cultivate a high-performing  team, and champion  exceptional student experiences for students with disabilities and other equity needs. Leveraging the SEDS Review , you will drive cultural change, optimise service delivery, and harness technology to create a world-class support ecosystem for our students. Collaborating across the university, you will ensure equitable access, improved compliance with policy and legislation, and contribute to improving the experiences and success of our students.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Operational leadership of the Student Equity & Disability Services team, spanning both emerging initiatives and the delivery of ‘business as usual’ services.
  • As a senior local leader, contribute to the delivery of relevant SEDS Review Action Plan , particularly those that sit within SEDS or require SEDS to collaborate with other areas including student services and faculties.
  • Directly enable the design, development and delivery of new / refreshed SEDS services and initiatives that support commencing and current students to feel welcomed and supported to register with SEDS, and to enact with faculties their Academic Adjustment Plans.
  • Actively facilitate opportunities for the co-design and evaluation of SEDS’ services, particularly with students and staff with lived experience of disability.The role will also be involved in the roster for out-of-hours student welfare matters.

Who we are looking for
We seek a strategic leader with a proven track record in complex environments to drive innovative solutions and build strong partnerships to improve service delivery. Ideal candidates possess exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, a deep understanding of disability rights, and experience managing diverse stakeholders. Higher education experience is highly valued but not essential.

You will also have:

  • A postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading transformational change including the design, delivery and evaluation of services, ideally in a student-focused or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams at a senior level, including project teams that draw together people from a range of operating environments.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

Student and Scholarly Services provides student administration and services from recruitment and point of enquiry to graduation.  This team also delivers wellbeing and scholarly services to students and staff.

Student Equity & Disability Services facilitates and supports an equitable learning environment for students through the provision of services and advice to students and staff.
