About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for someone with transferable skills who wants to embark on a career in fundraising and to be an agent for change in the realization of the University’s Indigenous strategy, Murmuk Djerring. As a Senior Development Manager (Indigenous), you will drive efforts to secure philanthropic support for University initiatives and community partnerships. This role offers a unique chance to embark on a high value career within a dynamic and supportive environment. 

Responsibilities include:

  • Manage a portfolio of prospective major gift donors, focusing on securing gifts for Indigenous priorities 
  • Partner with senior academic and advancement colleagues to facilitate transformational multi-million gifts  
  • Engage with senior leaders in business and community to secure philanthropic and social impact grants 
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with Indigenous and non-Indigenous stakeholders to advance fundraising goals


About You
We seek a motivated individual with exceptional relationship-building skills and a commitment to Indigenous causes. Your proactive approach and ability to engage with diverse stakeholders will be key to your success. You might come from a background in communications, sales, public relations, business and finance, the not-for-profit sector or other fields involving strong relationship-building. We offer training in best practices for fundraising through a comprehensive programme, enhancing your skills and impact in this role. 

You will also have:

  • Proven experience working with Indigenous leaders 
  • Demonstrated experience working with leaders in business, community and/or government 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Able to successfully navigate complexity 
  • A curiosity mindset and desire to learn
