About the Role
Play a vital role in shaping future educators, delivering high-quality teaching in the Master of Teaching and Master of Education programs. Engaging in innovative teaching, leadership, and research, the role offers opportunities to contribute to key educational projects and support pre-service teachers by linking theory to practice. You'll also have the chance to build the Faculty's reputation through impactful research, student supervision, and collaborations across Australia and beyond.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing and delivering lectures, tutorials, and seminars, while initiating, developing, and reviewing curriculum.
  • Conducting assessment, marking, and moderation, and communicating with and providing timely, effective feedback to students.
  • Coordinating subjects as needed, including supervising sessional teaching staff, developing staffing plans, and managing related administration.
  • Supporting students in connecting theory with practical application in school or early learning settings through clinical specialist duties.

Who We Are Looking For
You have a demonstrated ability to contribute to course and subject development while undertaking subject coordination duties and providing specialised support to students during placements. With a broad knowledge base and expertise, you effectively teach across multiple subjects and programs. You are skilled in developing and managing language and literacies-focused projects, and able to contribute to research agendas and supervise research students. Your established connections with education providers and professional associations enable you to develop strong partnerships, enhancing community engagement and facilitating the building of local and international networks.

You also have:

  • A PhD or research doctorate in Languages and Literacies Education or relevant discipline, including an emphasis relevant to Secondary literacy education.
  • The capability to teach in subject areas such as Learning Area English (MTeach Secondary and MTSI), encompassing core and foundational subjects, as well as contributing to the development of English learning area subjects
  • A strong understanding of contemporary theoretical and policy debates and practices within language and literacies education.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
