About the Role

This position role involves conducting high-impact research, delivering innovative teaching, and engaging with industry partners in the field of software engineering, particularly in areas like software evolution, AI for software engineering, and software engineering for AI. As part of a vibrant and internationally respected team, you will contribute to the growth of knowledge and leadership within the School of Computing and Information Systems. The position offers opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration and significant professional development in a globally leading institution.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Build and sustain a significant research program in software engineering such as software maintenance, an intersection between AI and software engineering.
  • Exercise leadership in scholarly research and build interdisciplinary research teams.
  • Present research seminars and workshops within the School and in external forums (e.g., international conferences).
  • Publish peer-reviewed scholarly papers in reputable international conferences and journals in software engineering. 

Who We Are Looking For


You will demonstrate exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build and maintain effective relationships that inspire students, staff, and the wider community, while collaborating with industry partners and contributing to a diverse academic environment through effective teaching across a range of subjects.

You will also have:

  • PhD in software engineering, computer science or equivalent;
  • A track record of high quality research and scholarship in software engineering, as evidenced by research publications in high-quality journals and conferences (including, but not limited to, ICSE, ASE, FSE, TSE, TOSEM).
  • Demonstrated ability to perform independent research and a commitment to interdisciplinary research;
  • Experience with undertaking collaborative research projects as part of a team across institutions and/or disciplines especially in the areas of software engineering;

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
