About the Role
The Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics will provide academic and clinical leadership in paediatric education and research within the graduate dental programs. This role involves teaching, curriculum development, supervising student research, and contributing to paediatric scholarship. The successful candidate will have specialist dental qualifications in paediatrics, a PhD, and national registration, with their research recognized as influential in advancing the field.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Preparation and delivery of teaching with contemporary pedagogical insights to achieve a high standard of teaching satisfaction in our entry to practice degree programs and continuing professional development (CPD) courses offered by the School.
  • Regularly contribute and lead curriculum development, assessment and evaluation renewal and redesign in consultation with relevant academic and professional staff in the School.
  • Undertake clinical teaching supervising treatment of student paediatric cases to completion of care including coordination and multidisciplinary referral and care, as required.
  • Administrative tasks associated with the subjects taught, including consultation with students, marking and assessment.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will have extensive clinical experience in Paediatrics, with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a diverse team environment. They will demonstrate excellence in clinical teaching, course development, and student supervision, with a focus on exploring innovative educational methods and contributing to research initiatives.

You will also have:

  • A completed PhD in a relevant field such as Paediatrics or a related discipline and a completed specialist dental qualification (or equivalent) in Paediatrics with the ability to register with the Dental Board of Australia through AHPRA (with no current or prior notifications).
  • Experience in clinical teaching in dentistry and demonstrated ability for excellence in clinical teaching including the capacity to initiate and develop course development and teaching materials.
  • An ability to supervise research higher degree, graduate and postgraduate students through to thesis completion.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
