Casual Research Assistant (multiple positions)

About the Role
The Faculty of Education (FoE) is seeking one/or multiple (pending availability) Research Assistant(s) to support advancing the FoE’s Sustainability Action Plan. Work will be September-December 2024, and will help lay the groundwork for a more environmental sustainability oriented FoE for the years to come.

Research Assistants will focus on one or both of the following areas, as well as supporting other activities in the Sustainability Action:

  • Research and develop in collaboration a Learning on Country educational component within the FoE’s offerings. This position requires experience with Learning on Country and Indigenous knowledge. Indigenous applicants are encouraged to apply.
  • Develop resources and supports to facilitate the development of impactful sustainability research, including processes and guidelines for reducing research related 'Scope 3 emissions' such as air travel.
  • Other activities to advance sustainability across all pillars in the FoE, in alignment with the FoE Sustainability Action Plan.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the planning and execution of Sustainability Action Plan activities
  • Conducting reviews of relevant material, where applicable
  • Assisting with monitoring and reporting of activities
  • Attending meetings and briefings as required
  • Liaising with supervisor(s)

Who We Are Looking For
You care about sustainability issues and are committed to research integrity, and able to manage research related administrative tasks efficiently and accurately. You utilise data analysis tools and technology with ease, and work collaboratively and collegially with academic and professional staff and colleagues.

You will also have:

  • A Honours or Master level qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent relevant academic or professional or practice-based experience and expertise
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge about sustainability and/or learning on Country experience

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
