About the Role
The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for preparing hepatitis B virus inoculum and testing its efficacy in cell culture models of HBV infection.

You will analyze markers of hepatitis B replication in cells, cell culture supernatants, and mice.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare hepatitis B virus inoculum and test efficacy in HBV infection experiments using cell culture models.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records, analyze data, and contribute to research outputs.
  • Attend weekly laboratory meetings and liaise with support staff.
  • Prepare virus-like particles for in vitro and in vivo studies.

Who We Are Looking For
You will possess an undergraduate degree in Microbiology, Biomedical Sciences, or a relevant discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.

You demonstrate the ability to work on multiple projects concurrently, adapt to new tasks, and contribute as a member of a multi-disciplinary research team.

You will also have:

  • Excellent time management and work ethic for successful completion of detailed laboratory experiments.
  • Proficient computer skills related to laboratory operations and record-keeping.
  • Understanding and respect for PC2, DAFF, and OGTR regulations.
  • Protective immunity to hepatitis B virus.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
