About the Role 
This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled Senior Laboratory Technician to work with advanced technologies in a dynamic and innovative environment. You will play a key role in supporting research and teaching across diverse fields, from robotics to human-computer interaction. Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing expert technical support for research and teaching activities, assisting staff and students in the use of specialist laboratory equipment and systems. 
  • Managing and maintaining laboratory equipment, ensuring operational efficiency, safety, and compliance with OHS standards. 
  • Overseeing laboratory inventory, procurement of consumables, and equipment purchases, while maintaining accurate documentation. 
  • Designing and conducting experiments, offering technical expertise in areas such as electronics, robotics, and prototyping to support teaching and research outcomes. 

Who We Are Looking For 
We’re looking for individuals who are proactive, team-oriented, and motivated by the opportunity to support cutting-edge research and teaching in a collaborative environment. 

You will also have: 

  • A relevant degree or trade qualification, or equivalent experience in supporting teaching and research within Mechatronics, Electronics, and Digital fields. 
  • Experience with electronics/mechatronics circuits, PCB fabrication, or software and application development (e.g. Arduino, Raspberry Pi, robotic systems). 
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume setting. 
  • Familiarity with Australian OHS legislation and laboratory compliance requirements.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
