Advisor (Accessibility & Inclusion)

About the Role 

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to meaningful change at the University of Melbourne. You will support initiatives aligned with the University's Diversity and Inclusion Strategy. A key focus of your role will be supporting the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of the University's Disability Inclusion Action Plan (DIAP). 

As the Advisor, you will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the University community. This will include consultation, co-design, and co-ordination around the current DIAP, as well as supporting the next one. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Providing specialist advice to support communications related to accessibility and inclusion.  
  • Leading the DIAP, under the Associate Director’s guidance. 
  • Facilitating staff and student lived experience disability advisory groups. 

Who we are looking for 

We’re looking for a dedicated professional with the expertise to navigate complex and sensitive issues. Subject matter expertise in accessibility and inclusion is essential. We are also looking for strong communication, engagement, and problem-solving skills.  

You will have: 

  • Subject matter expertise in disability, accessibility and inclusion. 
  • Demonstrated project management skills in a D&I context in a large and complex organisation. 
  • A track record of ensuring compliance with relevant legislation in a D&I context, including reporting processes.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The Office of the Provost portfolio sits alongside other divisions (Research, International, Strategy & Culture, Administration & Finance) within Chancellery.
