About the Role
The University of Melbourne's Melbourne Online team seeks a skilled Senior Learning Designer to lead the creation of engaging online courses. You will work closely with subject matter experts to develop high-quality Canvas courses, guide a team of learning designers, and ensure adherence to Melbourne Online's standards. Your expertise in instructional design, writing, and project management will be crucial in shaping the future of online learning.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the design and development of high-quality Canvas courses, ensuring adherence to quality standards and best practices.
- Writing scripts, storyboards, and instructional materials, and work with multimedia teams to create engaging learning experiences.
- Managing a team of learning designers, overseeing project timelines, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality course materials.
Who we are looking for
We seek a talented Senior Learning Designer with a passion for creating engaging online learning experiences. The ideal candidate will have strong technical skills in learning management systems and multimedia tools, as well as excellent leadership and communication abilities. They will lead a team of learning designers, collaborate with subject matter experts, and ensure the delivery of high-quality online courses.
You will also have:
- Relevant post-graduate qualification and/ or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training in Education, Instructional Design, or a related field.
- Previous experience as a learning design and development specialist, with a focus on online Canvas production. A degree or certification in a relevant field is preferred.
- Proven experience in leading and driving Canvas builds, instructional design, and writing for online learning environments.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
