About the Role
The Operations Officer will play a key role in supporting the administrative functions of the Melbourne School of Psychological Sciences, with a primary focus on HR processes across the employee lifecycle. Working closely with the Operations team, this role will coordinate recruitment, contract management, HR data administration, and onboarding processes while contributing to broader operational improvements within the School. The ideal candidate will be highly organised, proactive, and adept at managing competing priorities in a dynamic academic environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide timely and accurate advice across the breadth of School HR administration including onboarding / induction, HR data review and reconciliation, position management, visitor appointments, general HR administrative support and employee offboarding
  • Working with the Operations Manager to ensure effective delivery of relevant HR processes within the school including external advertising administration, set up of new and renewed contracts – continuing, fixed term and casual, operating within standardised procedures and systems such as Themis, PageUp and Workday
  • Production and maintenance of School Organisational charts and induction resources

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will be a proactive and adaptable professional with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building strong relationships and maintaining confidentiality in a fast-paced environment. They will demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities, sound judgment, and the ability to manage competing priorities while working both independently and collaboratively across multiple locations.

You will also have:

  • A degree with subsequent relevant experience or extensive relevant experience
  • Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with the ability to relate effectively with a range of people across all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating Human Resource administration in a complex operating environment
  • Demonstrated ability to work with tact, diplomacy and maintain confidentiality while keeping stakeholders informed of progress of requests in and changing fast-paced environment

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
