About the Role
The Soft FM Services Manager is responsible for maximising the value from the University’s Soft FM contracts, overseeing key services such as Cleaning, Waste, Grounds, Mail, Pest Control, Confidential Waste, and Campus Assist. The role involves managing contract performance, financial oversight, resolving performance gaps, and ensuring strong customer-contractor interactions, alongside leading and developing a team of contract supervisors.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading strategic end-to-end management of Soft FM contracts, ensuring effective scoping, procurement, monitoring, and contract close-out/renewal.
  • Monitoring contractor performance against KPIs, driving improvements where necessary, and ensuring compliance with OHS&E and other legislative requirements.
  • Managing financial aspects of key contracts, contributing to the University’s budget cycle, and collaborating with stakeholders to extract further value from contracts.
  • Providing leadership to the Soft FM contracts team, offering guidance, feedback, and coaching on operational, stakeholder, and technical issues.

Who we are looking for
You will have exceptional communication skills, particularly in liaising with executive stakeholders, and the ability to analyse and synthesise technical, financial, and business information. You will also demonstrate a collaborative, outcome-focused approach, with a proven ability to adapt established skills in a complex organisational context and build strong relationships across work groups.

You will also have:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
  • Proven commercial acumen with experience negotiating contracts worth over $2M for a large organisation.
  • Extensive experience in contract management, including a strong understanding of contract governance, contractual language, and the contract lifecycle.
  • A demonstrated ability to analyse both quantitative and qualitative information to drive improved outcomes for the organisation, along with a solid understanding of facilities management across a variety of facility types.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
