Join the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music as a Production Officer – Screen, where you will play a key role in delivering high-quality, end-to-end production support with a focus on screen-based programs in Film & Television (FTV).

Working in a collaborative and creative environment, you will support technical and production operations across the Faculty, ensuring the smooth execution of productions and projects. You’ll work closely with professional, academic, and creative teams to bring screen-based projects to life, contributing to the success of emerging filmmakers and artists across the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • As needed, assist the Production Officer - Screen with any research, development or budgeting work required for future productions, projects, and events.
  • Contribute to, maintain, and communicate Production Parameters to ensure the planning processdoes not result in proposals which exceed the allocated resources or timelines.
  • Collaborate with the Production Officer - Screen on developing and implementing yearly production schedules and tracking documents across all student projects from early pre production through to post-production and final delivery.
  • Ensure all production documents are delivered by student teams in a timely manner and archived appropriately, including but not limited to Scripts, Shooting Schedules, Risk Assessments, Call Sheets, Location Permits, etc.
  • Liaise with Engagement and Partnerships and Front of House staff regarding events, screenings and ticketing matters.
  • Respond to general student administration and production enquiries, triaging to (and working with) FTV Academic Staff and University Shared Services where appropriate.
  • Review and maintain student production and resource guides and safe operating procedures as informed by both University and Industry.

We are looking for an experienced Film & TV production professional with a strong understanding of creative processes, production management, and technical requirements, including set design, lighting, sound, and post-production workflows. You will have excellent project management skills, the ability to problem-solve under pressure, and a collaborative yet independent work style.

You may also:

  • Relevant experience within the Film & Television Industry enabling the role to be performed effectively, including solid experience in creative processes and concepts.
  • Strong practical understanding of delivering high quality production services within a Film & TV environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Film & TV production management procedures, as well as design and aesthetics, set design & construction, lighting, sound, audio visual, digital & streaming requirements, costumes, props and post production workflows.
  • Capacity to negotiate, with sensitivity and patience, a creative approach to problem solving, and the ability to remain calm in a busy environment.
  • Strong project management skills with logical and analytical approach to planning and allocation of resources, including a demonstrated capacity to meet strict deadlines.
  • The ability to work collaboratively as well as independently with the initiative to take on tasks.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and procedures as related to the Film & TV (and wider entertainment) industries with proven experience of implementing these requirements in a sympathetic manner.
  • Tertiary qualifications (or progress towards) or equivalent with relevant industry experience or equivalent combination.
  • Knowledge of copyright and intellectual property in the context of Film & TV production.

The Team - Programs and Operations
The Programs and Operations (P&O) team within the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music is a dynamic work area, delivering services, support and technical expertise to academics, students, professional staff and stakeholders. The team operates predominantly at the Southbank Campus within Melbourne’s Arts Precinct, as well as the University’s Parkville Campus.

The team oversees program planning, delivery, and operational functions across the following areas: production and technical; event coordination; film and recording studios; asset, equipment and resource management; facilities maintenance and support; capital works and building projects; Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S), technical infrastructure; management of workshops, performance spaces, studios and galleries. The Programs and Operations team collectively ensures the effective planning and delivery of the Faculty's performance, creative and visual arts program, aligned with teaching & learning, research, and engagement priorities.
