Your next career opportunity
As a Senior Research Integrity Investigations Officer, you'll play a pivotal role in upholding the highest standards of research conduct at the University of Melbourne. You will manage and investigate potential breaches of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research, and take the lead on our most complex matters. Engaging with diverse stakeholders, you will provide crucial advice to key decision-makers while also contributing to continuous improvement initiatives. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to act in the manager position when required, further enhancing your leadership and expertise in research integrity.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Manage Research Integrity Investigations: Conduct preliminary assessments and investigations of potential breaches of the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research and University Policy.
  • Provide Expert Advice: Offer timely, robust, and defensible recommendations to key decision-makers on research integrity matters.
  • Engage with Stakeholders: Liaise confidently with complainants, respondents, witnesses, and subject matter experts, often in sensitive situations.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to enhance the University's processes for managing and investigating potential breaches of the Code.

You will be a great fit if:

You are an experienced professional with post-graduate qualifications and a strong background in professional standards investigations, possessing excellent analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills to navigate complex research integrity matters.

You may also:

  • Have post-graduate qualifications or extensive relevant experience in a related field.
  • Possess training and experience in professional standards investigations (e.g., Certificate IV in Government Investigations).
  • Demonstrate advanced oral and written communication skills, including investigative interviewing and report writing.
  • Have a comprehensive understanding of procedural fairness principles and their application.
  • Exhibit highly developed analytical thinking and maturity of judgement.
  • Show experience in managing diverse stakeholders and working collaboratively across organisational boundaries.
  • Possess strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise and manage competing demands.
