Your next career opportunity
As an Obstetrics and Gynaecological (O&G) Clinical Teaching Fellow at the University of Melbourne's Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health, you'll be at the forefront of medical education. Based at the Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital, you'll deliver high-quality clinical teaching to medical students, contribute to curriculum development, and have the opportunity to enhance your own skills as a medical educator. This role offers you the chance to shape the future of women's health education while advancing your career in a supportive academic environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Deliver Clinical Teaching: Conduct bedside clinical skills coaching, case-based discussions, and simulation sessions for medical students.
  • Contribute to Assessment: Prepare and mark examinations, assess student portfolios, and participate in clinical examinations.
  • Engage in Professional Development: Participate in peer observation and teaching improvement programs.
  • Support Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design and improvement of the Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health program.

You may be a great fit if:
You are a registered medical practitioner with advanced training or fellowship in obstetrics and gynaecology possessing a passion for teaching and a commitment to excellence in medical education.

You may also:

  • Have medical registration in Australia (or be eligible for registration).
  • Be an advanced trainee or Fellow in obstetrics and gynaecology (FRANZCOG)
  • Demonstrate flexibility, enthusiasm, and commitment to quality clinical teaching.
  • Show potential for further enhancement of professional and teaching skills.
  • Possess highly developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Exhibit strong teamwork abilities to collaborate with educators and students.

Your new team – Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Newborn Health
The University Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Newborn Health plays a vital role in teaching MD medical students, with approximately 350 students spending 6 weeks each year in the department. The department's vision is to be a globally recognised centre of excellence in academic Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Neonatal Paediatrics, with a mission to provide high-quality academic services in clinical, educational, and research activities, primarily in its major centres, the Royal Women's Hospital and the Mercy Hospital for Women. The department has a strong research focus in areas such as maternal foetal medicine, neonatal paediatrics, women's health, infectious diseases, gynaecological oncology, and reproductive biology.
