As a Studio Leader in the Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning, you'll have the opportunity to design and lead a Postgraduate Studio in your area of expertise. You'll leverage your industry experience to deliver expert subject knowledge, creating engaging projects that achieve excellent student outcomes. This role offers you the chance to shape the future of architectural education while working in a dynamic, inclusive learning environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Design and Lead Studio Projects: Create unique project briefs and lead studio units, aligning with intended learning outcomes and professional competency criteria.
- Facilitate Engaging Learning: Deliver weekly studio sessions, run design exercises, and foster an inclusive learning environment for diverse student cohorts.
- Assess and Mentor Students: Mark assignments, provide high-quality feedback, and identify students at academic risk to support their development.
- Contribute to Academic Excellence: Participate in faculty meetings, undertake teaching administration, and uphold University and Faculty policies.
You may be a great fit if:
You are an experienced industry professional with a relevant postgraduate degree in Architecture, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to design engaging projects that motivate and inspire diverse student cohorts.
You may also:
- Have significant industry expertise in a relevant architectural discipline.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to facilitate inclusive learning experiences.
- Demonstrate the ability to design project briefs and deliver expert subject knowledge effectively.
- Have experience with online approaches to learning, teaching, and assessment.
- Possess a working knowledge of the National Standards of Competency for Architects (NCSA).
- Be able to create engaging learning activities and provide high-quality assessment feedback.

Your new team – The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning
The Faculty of Architecture, Building and Planning is the leading educational and research institution in the Asia-Pacific region addressing the design and realisation of inhabited environments. It actively seeks to extend the linkages between education, research and practice in the built environment, and maintains excellent and extensive relationships with members of the built environment professions, government, professional associations and the wider community.
The Faculty has over 200 staff and 3000 students, one third of whom are international. It is responsible for the undergraduate Bachelor of Design degree, and offers majors in architecture, landscape architecture, property, construction, and urban planning.
The Faculty’s graduate school, the Melbourne School of Design (MSD), teaches accredited masters courses across the professional disciplines of Architecture, Construction Management, Landscape Architecture, Property, Urban Design and Urban Planning.
