About the Chief Operating Officer Portfolio:
The COO Portfolio ensures high-quality outcomes for students, staff, and partners by providing University-wide services that align with the organization's goals. It collaborates with university teams to foster innovation, drive performance improvements, and manages the budget, financial performance, property, and capital. The portfolio comprises six sub-portfolios encompassing all operational areas.
Working across the University, the Food Sector Development Director will harness the institution’s expertise in food science and food engineering to build enduring partnerships with industry and the broader ecosystem on a national and global scale. This includes catalysing strategically important interdisciplinary research, and pursuing funding opportunities that maximise impact and deliver optimal value to society and industry. The Food Sector Development Director will collaborate with academic researchers, Business Development Managers and other stakeholders across the University to grow relationships across the food sector ecosystem, particularly in food and beverage manufacturing and processing. The Food Sector Development Director will also explore opportunities for industry to engage in outcomes connected to student experience, philanthropy and teaching as part of an over-arching Food Sector strategy, connecting these opportunities internally across the University as appropriate.

You are a well-respected leader in the food sector with a proven track record in driving innovation within industry and/or government. With a passion for transforming interdisciplinary research that delivers positive impact to the economy and society, you have the commercial acumen and relevant experience needed to credibly represent the University in negotiations with senior industry executives and stakeholders. Key to your success in this newly created role will be your ability to ability to build innovative interdisciplinary partnerships to drive win-win research commercialisation outcomes across the food sector its related ecosystem.
