About the Role
Provide academic direction and leadership to shape and advance the Assessment and Evaluation Research Centre’s strategic vision, and contribute to the broader goals of the Faculty of Education. Inspire and support staff to achieve excellence in both teaching and research as you oversee the coordination and delivery of high-quality educational programs, and actively contribute to the design and execution of innovative research programs. The role requires a balance of strategic leadership, direct involvement in teaching and research activities, and a commitment to creating an environment of academic and professional growth. Reporting to the Director of the Research Centre, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the Centre’s impact and reputation, while also advancing the Faculty's objectives.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading the development of innovative learning programs, enhancing the Faculty's international reputation for teaching excellence, and collaborating with academics to ensure high standards in programs and teaching.
- Directing a high-profile research program with national and international impact, securing significant funding from diverse sources, supervising PhD students, publishing in leading journals and venues, and developing grant-funded research initiatives.
- Building and maintaining networks with industry bodies, universities, and researchers, fostering strategic partnerships to expand research and commercial opportunities, and secure internal and external funding.
- Leading collaborative academic initiatives within the Faculty, guiding and supporting the professional development of academic staff, and nurturing a culture of strong engagement and knowledge partnerships.
Who We Are Looking For
As an internationally distinguished scholar in the field of assessment and evaluation, you bring extensive senior leadership experience, a robust research track record, and a demonstrated ability to secure and manage research and industry funding. As a recognised scholar with a history of innovative contributions and successful supervision of higher degree research students, you lead by example, support staff excellence, and foster strong partnerships with national and international stakeholders. Your superior communication skills enable you to effectively influence and positively contribute to others in a complex environment. With a passion for driving excellence, you lead by example and encourage and support staff to deliver exceptional outcomes. As a recognised academic with a distinguished publication record, you have successfully supervised higher degree research students and demonstrated a commitment to teaching at the Master level.
You will also have:
- A PhD in education or similar, with assessment and evaluation expertise.
- Recognised authority in evaluation with a strong publication record and expertise in innovative research.
- Proven excellence in leadership, academic performance management, strategic planning, policy formulation, and program delivery.
- Proficiency in communication, stakeholder management, and facilitating collaborative partnerships.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
