About the Role

The Associate Director, Strategic Programs, provides senior leadership within the Operational Performance Group, overseeing complex programs and managing multidisciplinary teams of project professionals. Reporting to the Director, Portfolio and Project Management, the role is responsible for the delivery of high-impact initiatives that drive strategic transformation across the University. With expertise in project management, business transformation, and stakeholder engagement, the Associate Director plays a pivotal role in shaping and implementing innovative solutions that address organisational challenges and advance the University's priorities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing leadership on the scoping, initiation, planning, design, implementation, and close-out activities for significant strategic programs and projects
  • Lead a core group of PM professionals, investing in their development and capability, and managing their allocation across projects and programs 
  • Manage and maintain strong and effective stakeholder relationships with key areas of the University, including acting as relationship manager for key business units as required.

Who we are looking for

We are looking for an experienced professional with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of translating strategy into actionable project and program objectives that deliver results. The ideal candidate will have excellent project and program management skills, communication, writing, and presentation abilities, along with the proven capacity to engage and manage expectations with a diverse range of stakeholders, including senior leadership.

You will also have:

  • Extensive experience in the project and program management and delivery of complex strategic business transformation initiatives from strategy to delivery
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage projects with a wide organisational impact.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work with senior and C-suite leadership
  • Deep knowledge of the project lifecycle, including demonstrated experience across project documentation, standards and methodologies and the application of project planning and management competencies

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
