About the Role
As Venue Supervisor at the Potter Museum of Art, you'll play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional visitor experiences. You'll lead a team of Gallery Attendants, oversee daily operations, and be the first point of contact for diverse audiences. This role offers you the chance to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of visual arts while developing your leadership and communication skills in a prestigious university setting.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Lead Visitor Experience: Provide information about exhibitions, collections, and events to engage and inform visitors.
- Manage Front-of-House Operations: Oversee daily activities, including opening/closing procedures and maintenance of exhibition spaces.
- Supervise Gallery Staff: Roster, train, and coordinate Gallery Attendants, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
- Coordinate Events and Bookings: Assist in managing a complex calendar of school visits, tertiary groups, and venue hires.
Who we are looking for
You are an enthusiastic art lover with proven experience in customer service leadership, possessing excellent communication skills and the ability to engage diverse audiences in a museum or gallery setting.
You will also have:
- Have a keen knowledge of and enthusiasm for visual art.
- Possess at least two years of supervisory experience in a gallery, museum, or creative industry environment.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking abilities.
- Show strong leadership, organisational, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Have awareness of best-practice visitor experience and accessibility needs for diverse audiences.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
