About the role:
The Victorian Node, a collaboration of four leading universities, seeks a dynamic Partnership Development Lead. Based out of The University of Melbourne, this critical role will spearhead strategic operations, forge pivotal industry and academic alliances, and drive ecosystem growth within key sectors like MedTech, Defence, and Finance. You'll not only lead the Victorian team, but also shape national strategy, fostering collaboration across all state Nodes and advising on future business models to amplify Australia's quantum impact. Your BAU:

  • Drive Strategic Partnerships: Develop and execute national partnership strategies, cultivate high-value relationships, and secure industry/government collaborations with Victorian universities, fostering growth across key sectors.
  • Lead Ecosystem Development: Champion quantum R&D growth by building industry-academia-government links, sharing best practices across Nodes, and representing Quantum Australia at key events.
  • Empower Node Collaboration: Provide leadership and mentorship to Node partnership teams, establish performance metrics, and build a collaborative community of practice to maximize national impact.
  • Provide Strategic Guidance: Advise on growth strategies, pipeline development, and operational management, ensuring alignment with Quantum Australia's goals and contributing to national quantum sector advancement.

Your profile:
We're seeking a highly communicative and strategic individual, someone who not only excels at building strong relationships and navigating complex stakeholder interactions, but also possesses a genuine passion for industry development and quantum technologies. This person will be a strategic thinker, capable of analyzing and contributing to the growth of the quantum ecosystem, while demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience and Qualifications: Postgraduate degree in a relevant discipline (PhD and/or MBA highly desirable) coupled with substantial commercial experience in an academic business development role, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education. 
  • Leadership: Experience in developing cohesive teams across geographies.
  • Strategic Partnership & Business Acumen: Proven experience in developing strategic partnerships, particularly within quantum-relevant industries, coupled with strong business development skills, including proposal drafting and agreement development.
  • Operational & Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage workloads, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and deliver results, including financial management, budget development, and project execution.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. You will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures if you don’t have one already.
