About the Role
The Learning Designer at the Melbourne Dental School is tasked with developing and maintaining learning assets for the Doctor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Oral Health courses. Collaborating closely with program directors, the role involves designing assessments and curriculum, requiring excellent initiative and self-management skills to ensure effective coordination with various stakeholders and maintain high-quality standards across multiple projects simultaneously.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Apply appropriate andragogy to the development of learning assets in the MDS programs.
  • Design, develop or redevelop learning experiences for online and face to face delivery to meet specified learning objectives of the learning assets.
  • Support the development, maintenance and administration of high-quality interactive resources to support learning design.

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills, demonstrated by their ability to design learning assets, collaborate with stakeholders, and provide support for educational systems. They must excel in managing priorities in a dynamic environment, with a commitment to continuous improvement, and ideally have experience or understanding of the higher education or medical education sectors.

You will also have:

  • A degree with substantial relevant experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability in designing learning assets and special experiences in online and face to face delivery modes.
  • Experience in developing support and guide material for staff and student in using new educational systems and new learning materials.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage critical and competing priorities in a highly dynamic and flexible environment, as well as a commitment to continuous improvement.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The Melbourne Dental School has a strong tradition in dental research and an established international reputation in several research areas. Research in the School is an integral component of staff and student activities underpinning both the undergraduate and graduate curricula. The major research activities of the school are conducted via three divisions and four major research groups, which range translational biomedical science to clinical studies, pedagogical research.
