Student and Teaching Programs Coordinator

  • Provide administrative support to ensure the efficient delivery of learning and teaching activities within the Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology and Newborn Health, with a focus on the Doctor of Medicine (MD) program at the Mercy Hospital for Women campus.

About the Role
Based at the Mercy Hospital for Women, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the successful delivery of the MD program, specifically the Women's Health sub-specialty rotation within the Principles of Clinical Practice unit (PCP3A).

Working closely with the Academic Coordinator, you will ensure the effective and efficient administration of the program through the strong relationship you will have with both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, you will assist with the development of teaching tools, initiatives, and the coordination of resources.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Provide administrative support for the MD program delivery at the Mercy Hospital for Women campus, including student coordination, timetabling, curriculum planning, and assessment coordination.
  • Support the development of teaching tools, initiatives, and the coordination of physical resources.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to streamline and improve the student experience across MD3, MD4, and the elective program.
  • Provide administrative support for teaching evaluation, student feedback processes, and clinical educators.
  • Assist with the coordination of events, professional development activities, and strategic teaching planning sessions.

Who We Are Looking For
You will possess a tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline and/or equivalent experience, with a high degree of professionalism and a strong commitment to quality service.

You have excellent administration skills, attention to detail, and a commitment to accuracy. Your interpersonal skills and ability to interact positively with staff and students from diverse backgrounds are exceptional.

You will also have:

  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, including the ability to liaise and develop relationships effectively with academic and professional staff.
  • The ability to contribute towards innovation and continuous improvement in work processes.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, committee papers, agendas, minutes, and correspondence.
  • Advanced computer skills, particularly in the Microsoft Office suite, and the capacity to learn and use in-house administrative systems.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.

The University Department of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Newborn Health plays a vital role in teaching MD medical students, with approximately 350 students spending 6 weeks each year in the department during their third year. The department's vision is to improve health around the world through research, education and clinical training in obstetrics, gynaecology and newborn health, with a mission to nurture great people and big ideas in teaching and research to lead and improve health outcomes globally in obstetrics, gynaecology and newborn health. The Department operates across a number of hospital sites, with its major centres being the Royal Women’s Hospital and the Mercy Hospital for Women. The department has a strong research focus in areas such as maternal foetal medicine, neonatal paediatrics, women's health, infectious diseases, gynaecological oncology, and reproductive biology.
