India Engagement Adviser

About the Role
Playing an important role in implementing the University of Melbourne's global strategy, the India Engagement Adviser delivers high-impact intelligence, cultivates strategic partnerships, support communications between the Melbourne Global Centre – Delhi and the university’s communities, and maximising opportunities aligned with global priorities. The Adviser provides high-level support to Chancellery’s executives in managing projects, fostering partnerships and ensuring dynamic and timely liaison across all University divisions and with external parties.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Delivering intelligence and support the implementation of partnership strategies to maximise the University's impact in India.
  • Supporting the Director of Melbourne Global Centre-Delhi, coordinate grant activities, analysing stakeholder feedback, and ensuring seamless communication between internal and Delhi-based teams.
  • Managing stakeholder relations, providing secretariat services, maintaining accurate records, and contributing to process improvements for partnership assessment and reporting.


Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will possess a blend of academic qualifications and practical experience, or extensive field knowledge, coupled with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. They must demonstrate a proven ability to manage complex projects, build international relationships, and navigate cross-cultural sensitivities. Strong judgment, discretion, and the capacity to deliver high-quality work within deadlines are essential. Experience in international higher education or working abroad is highly desirable.

You will also have:

  • A degree with relevant experience; or extensive experience and broad knowledge of the field; or an equivalent combination of relevant professional experience and/or education and training
  • Proven ability to coordinate a range of administrative/project activities and support to senior staff with a capacity to exercise sound judgement, diplomacy and discretion and a demonstrated ability to handle information in a confidential and appropriate manner.
  • Experience in leading and managing multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful delivery of program objectives

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
