Your next career opportunity
As Research Fellow, you will contribute to an ARC-funded project that advances macroeconomic and financial modelling. Working alongside leading researchers from the University of Melbourne, Australian National University, and the University of York, you will refine and apply econometric techniques to improve the analysis of extreme economic events. Your work will involve developing statistical methodologies, coding analytical tools, and producing research with real-world policy impact. This position offers an excellent opportunity to enhance your expertise in econometrics while engaging with policymakers and academic collaborators to drive meaningful economic insights.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting advanced research in macroeconomic and financial modelling, collaborating with national and international partners.
- Enhancing economic models to better account for extreme events and addressing technical challenges in estimating rare, high-impact occurrences.
- Developing analytical tools for policy evaluation, including counterfactual analysis, forecasting, and network visualisation.
- Communicating findings through academic publications, policy reports, workshops, and direct engagement with policymakers.

You may also:
- Hold a PhD (or are near completion) in econometrics, statistics, or a related field.
- Possess advanced econometric programming skills, particularly in R.
- Demonstrate strong problem-solving abilities and excellent research documentation practices.
- Have a track record of producing high-quality communications, with the ability to translate research into accessible reports and presentations.
