As the Faculty Librarian for Fine Arts and Music at the University of Melbourne, you'll be at the forefront of delivering innovative library services that support world-class research and learning. You'll have the opportunity to lead a team, build strategic partnerships with academics, and drive the digital transformation of library services. Your role will directly impact the academic success of students and researchers in the creative arts, making this a key position for those passionate about the intersection of information science and the arts.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead Strategic Initiatives: Direct library services that contribute to University and faculty goals in teaching, learning, and research.
  • Build Key Partnerships: Develop effective relationships with academics, researchers, and Scholarly Services colleagues to deliver impactful library services.
  • Manage High-Performing Teams: Lead and develop the Fine Arts and Music liaison team, focusing on service efficiency and strategic capability building.
  • Drive Digital Innovation: Contribute to the digital uplift of library services, ensuring they meet future needs in higher education.

You are a forward-thinking library professional with strong leadership skills, a passion for the arts, and the ability to drive innovation in academic library services.

You may also:

  • Have postgraduate qualifications in a relevant discipline with significant management experience.
  • Be eligible for associate membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA).
  • Demonstrate experience in leading digital transformation of library services in higher education.
  • Show a proven track record in building strategic relationships with academic stakeholders.
  • Possess strong experience in managing library services, including learning, research, and collections management.
  • Exhibit excellent leadership skills with the ability to develop high-performing teams.
  • Have sound knowledge of strategic program planning and resource allocation in complex environments.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate.
  • Show a commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in library services.
  • Have a passion for the fine arts and music, with an understanding of the unique needs of these disciplines.
