As a Lecturer in Dance at the Victorian College of the Arts, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of dance education. You'll contribute to VCA's commitment to artistic excellence, research-informed teaching, and culturally informed practice. Your role will involve developing innovative curricula, supervising research students, and actively participating in the artistic and intellectual life of the University.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and Deliver High-Quality Teaching: Create and teach engaging dance courses at undergraduate and graduate levels, incorporating innovative pedagogical approaches.
- Conduct Impactful Research: Initiate and participate in research projects, produce high-quality publications, and seek external funding opportunities.
- Engage with the Arts Community: Liaise with external industry networks and contribute to the professional arts sector, fostering collaborative relationships.
- Provide Academic Leadership: Contribute to curriculum development, supervise postgraduate students, and participate in faculty planning and initiatives.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a passionate artist-scholar with a PhD in Dance or equivalent experience, demonstrating excellence in teaching, research, and professional practice, with a strong commitment to culturally informed and interdisciplinary approaches to dance education.
You may also:
- Possess expertise in contemporary teaching approaches for embodied practice and dance theory.
- Have a track record of high-quality research outputs and successful grant applications.
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to mentor colleagues and students.
- Show a commitment to inclusive and student-centred teaching approaches.
- Have experience in curriculum development and course coordination in a tertiary setting.
