As a Lecturer in Journalism at the Centre for Advancing Journalism, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of journalism education. You'll develop and deliver engaging courses for our Master's programmes, contribute to curriculum innovation, and engage in scholarly activities that enhance your teaching practice. This role offers you the chance to work in a dynamic academic environment, collaborating with colleagues to advance journalism education and research.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and Deliver Engaging Courses: Coordinate subjects, design curricula, and teach at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, incorporating innovative teaching methods.
  • Engage in Scholarly Activities: Conduct research or scholarly work that informs and enhances your teaching practice in journalism.
  • Supervise Student Projects: Guide honours and postgraduate students in their thesis work and research projects.
  • Contribute to Faculty Leadership: Participate in committee work and engage in service roles within the School and Faculty.

You may be a great fit if:

You are a passionate educator with a PhD in a relevant discipline, specialising in journalism practice, with expertise in news writing and media ethics or digital storytelling, and a commitment to excellence in teaching and curriculum design.

You may also:

  • Have a PhD in a relevant discipline with a specialisation in journalism practice.
  • Possess expertise in news writing, media ethics, and/or digital storytelling.
  • Demonstrate excellence in teaching and curriculum design for diverse student cohorts.
  • Have an emerging record of pedagogical or academic research that enhances teaching practice.
  • Exhibit strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Show a commitment to professional and collegial behaviour of a high standard.
