About the Role
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced fundraising professional to provide philanthropic support within the Medicine, Dentistry and Health Sciences (MDHS) Advancement team. Reporting to the Director, Principal and Major Gifts (MDHS), you will bring proven expertise in securing principal and major gifts, consistently achieving contributions over $1 million, with a strategic goal of elevating gift levels to $5 million and beyond over time.
In this role, you will leverage critical analysis to navigate complex issues and develop tailored strategies for building and managing relationships with current and prospective donors, driving progress toward ambitious annual income targets. Collaboration will be key, as you work closely with MDHS colleagues, university-wide advancement teams, and academic and professional staff to align efforts and achieve impactful outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:
- Manage a portfolio of up to 60 major prospective donors to maximise the financial outcomes for MDHS priorities, through
a focus on prospective donors capable of making principal gift level donations. - Working with the MDHS Advancement leadership and other principal gift fundraising staff, play a lead role in the development, implementation and management of fundraising strategies, programs and philanthropic priorities to generate income for the Faculty
- Prepare donor/prospect proposals, cases for support, communication materials and other correspondence to the highest standard
- Manage, mentor, and support the Senior Development Manager, demonstrating strong people leadership skills to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment
Who we are looking for
We’re seeking an experienced fundraising expert with strong leadership skills. You will excel at relationship management, with the ability to influence, negotiate, and communicate effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
You will also have:
- Extensive relevant experience focused on a significant major gifts component
- Extensive and demonstrated fundraising experience working at a senior level to develop and execute a successful fundraising strategy, particularly in the areas of principal philanthropic gifts from individuals and organisations up to and over $1 million
- A track record in identifying, researching, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donor relationships, both independently and as part of a team
- Strong sense of ethical conduct that will inspire confidence with colleagues, while maintaining confidentiality in all matters as they relate to sensitive donor relations issues

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
