Platform Security Operations Specialist

About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Enterprise Platforms team and Cybersecurity team to maintain a high-level awareness of current cybersecurity issues that could impact supported platforms, leading the deployment of patches, implementing mitigation strategies or otherwise ensuring IT systems comply.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of security policies, ensuring compliance with both industry and University standards. 
  • Collaborate with Cybersecurity and Platform teams in incident response to mitigate breach impacts. 
  • Perform regular system audits and act as the communication link between Cybersecurity and Enterprise Platforms. 
  • To lead the patching process to ensure services adhere to security baselines.  


Who we are looking for

You will also have:

  • A qualification in ITIL and/or previous experience using ITIL at a practical level. 
  • Microsoft, Unix, VMware, AWS, and cybersecurity certifications advantageous. 
  • Extensive experience as a System Administrator, Cybersecurity Analyst, or a related role. 
  • Strong understanding of where and how to apply patches or mitigations in common operating systems and application frameworks. 
  • Ability to assess the potential impact of a CVE on the enterprise platform or hosted applications. 
  • In-depth knowledge of modern system security practices and their effective application in diverse, complex environments.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
