About the Role
The Operations and Projects Coordinator at the Peter Doherty Institute for Infection and Immunity provides high-level operational support to the Directorate team, focusing on implementing strategic and business plans. This role involves coordinating projects, supporting governance frameworks, and leading a small team of administrative staff while managing discreet initiatives for continuous improvement. The Coordinator is expected to exercise discretion and professionalism when interacting with stakeholders and handling sensitive information.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Creation and implementation of Institute operational and strategic policies, terms of reference, and other documents
  • Manage critical HR activities including coordination of Directorate recruitment activities,  onboarding/offboarding, and general contract management. 
  • Project support including coordination of operational and administrative tasks between joint venture partners Management of Institute events including seminars, delegations, and social activities

Who We Are Looking For
The successful candidate will possess strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to balance competing demands and deliver innovative solutions in a high-pressure environment. They will demonstrate excellent communication abilities, financial literacy, and experience in managing large-scale events, alongside a proven capacity for leadership and attention to detail.

You will also have:

  • Completion of a higher qualification in a relevant area with relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to new situations, and quickly assimilate new concepts and information, and deliver positive, innovative solutions to complex operational issues
  • Financial literacy and understanding of HR administrative processes and policies.
  • Experience managing large scale events to a budget.

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
