About the Role
As the Director, Organisational Design, you will redefine organisational learning at the University of Melbourne. By crafting transformative, end-to-end learning experiences that drive career growth, capability development, and team performance, you’ll empower employees to excel and build skills for the future. With a focus on human-centered design, innovative adult learning science, and robust evaluation models, you’ll build and lead a high-performing team to deliver measurable impact aligned with the University’s strategic vision.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Develop and Oversee Learning Experiences: Design, develop, and execute high-quality learning experiences aligned with organisational goals, including induction, supervisor training, and advanced development pathways.
- Champion Human-Centered Design: Create engaging and accessible learning experiences tailored to diverse learners using human-centered and experience design principles.
- Drive Data-Informed Learning: Implement rigorous evaluation models (e.g., LTEM) to measure program effectiveness and use data to inform continuous improvement.
- Lead and Collaborate: Lead a high-performing team, foster a collaborative environment, and partner with key stakeholders to ensure successful program delivery and organizational impact.
Who we are looking for
You will bring extensive experience in leading organisational development initiatives within complex environments, with proven success in delivering impactful programs. Your exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills will enable you to build high-performing teams, drive change, and foster strong, collaborative relationships across diverse audiences and competing priorities.
You will also have:
- Instructional Design and Program Management: significant experience in instructional design or capability development, with experience managing complex learning programs.
- Experience and Service Design: Proficiency in experience design and service design methodologies, ensuring impactful, learner-centred programs.
- Career Learning Leadership: A vision for enabling career mobility and supporting career pathways through impactful learning solutions.
- Human-Centred Design and Adult Learning Science: Expertise in applying human-centred design and adult learning principles to create accessible, effective programs.
- Data-Driven Evaluation: Proficiency with LTEM or similar models to measure learning effectiveness and program impact.
- Team Leadership Excellence: Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing, cross-functional teams.
- Digital and Blended Learning Expertise: Proven experience leveraging technology to deliver engaging, hybrid, and online learning experiences.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
