Join the University of Melbourne as an Instructional Designer, where you’ll bring your creative flair and technical expertise to design visually compelling and instructionally effective learning materials. Collaborating with the Learning Experience Design team, you’ll translate complex learning objectives into engaging, accessible, and inclusive content. Your work will enhance staff development and drive transformative learning outcomes.

This role offers two unique opportunities:

1. Instructional Designer (Videography Focus): Harness your video production skills to create dynamic multimedia content. 

2. Instructional Designer (Graphic Design Focus): Leverage your graphic design expertise to craft visually impactful digital and print assets. 

Your responsibilities will include: 

• Design High-Impact Learning Materials: Develop instructionally sound, visually engaging digital and multimedia content tailored to diverse learning needs and aligned with UoM branding. 

• Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with Learning Experience Designers and other stakeholders to create content that supports organisational development goals. 

• Specialised Content Development: 
  • For the Videography Focus, produce engaging video content, including storyboarding, filming, editing, and integrating videos into e-learning modules. 
  • For the Graphic Design Focus, create compelling visuals, infographics, and layouts that enhance comprehension and retention.
• Optimise Content for Learning Management Systems (LMS): Ensure content is seamlessly integrated into LMS platforms for a smooth learner experience.
• Apply Instructional Design Best Practices: Use adult learning principles and data-driven insights to create accessible and inclusive materials that drive measurable outcomes.
• Recommend Content Enhancements: Evaluate existing materials and recommend improvements to maximise impact and learner engagement. 

You might be a great fit if: 

You are an innovative and detail-oriented designer passionate about creating exceptional learning experiences. You bring expertise in instructional design and one of the following specialties: videography or graphic design.

You will also have:

• Instructional Design Expertise: Demonstrated experience applying adult learning principles to develop impactful, inclusive, and accessible learning solutions. 

• Specialist Skills: 

  • For Videography Focus, proficiency in video production, editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro), and multimedia storytelling techniques. 
  • For Graphic Design Focus, advanced skills in graphic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and creating visuals aligned with branding guidelines. 

• Digital Learning Platforms: Familiarity with LMS platforms and tools for creating and delivering e-learning content.

• Project Management Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables within deadlines, ensuring quality and consistency.

• Collaborative Mindset: Exceptional communication skills to engage diverse stakeholders and contribute to a team environment.

• Creative Problem-Solving: A track record of developing innovative solutions that address learner needs and enhance engagement.

This role requires the successful candidate to undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
