About the Role
The School of Social and Political Sciences (SSPS) is seeking a Tutor in Political Science to teach subjects within the Political Science and International Studies major, and where required, the Master of International Relations.
Reporting to the Discipline Chair, the role involves delivering tutorials, supporting subject assessment, and assisting with the development of teaching materials.
The Tutor will also manage administrative tasks related to subject delivery. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a prestigious Political Science program in a dynamic academic environment.
There are two positions available.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Prepare and conduct tutorials in the required mode (eg. online, on campus, blended) to a high standard.
- Effectively and efficiently communicate with students via LMS and address frequently asked questions in relation to classes and assessment.
- Mark attendance as required and consider matters in relation to student absence, student behaviour, and problems associated with cancelled classes and clashes.
- Mark assessment, provide timely feedback to students and record results into the appropriate results record system.
Who We Are Looking For
You will have a strong academic background in Political Science or a related field, with experience in teaching and delivering tutorials at the undergraduate and/or postgraduate level. A passion for political science education and a commitment to fostering an engaging and inclusive learning environment will be essential for success in this role.
You will also have:
- A completed PhD in Political Science or closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in teaching delivery.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the learning orientations of a diverse student cohort, combined with the ability to apply this knowledge and understanding to create inclusive learning environments.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
