As a Senior Lecturer in Child and Adolescent Health at the Rural Clinical School in Wangaratta, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping future rural doctors. You'll have the opportunity to develop and deliver engaging clinical teaching sessions, organise student placements, and contribute to curriculum development. This role offers you the chance to make a significant impact on rural healthcare while working in a collaborative, values-driven environment.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Deliver Engaging Clinical Education: Prepare and conduct tutorials, demonstrations, and clinical sessions in child and adolescent health for medical students.
- Coordinate Student Experiences: Organise clinic and ward round experiences, orientations, and supervise student placements at Northeast Health Wangaratta.
- Contribute to Assessment and Curriculum: Participate in student assessments, examinations, and contribute to Rural Clinical School meetings and committees.
- Foster Professional Relationships: Develop and maintain strong working relationships with medical practitioners and healthcare professionals in hospitals and the community.
You may be a great fit if:
You are a qualified medical practitioner with a passion for teaching and a commitment to rural health, possessing excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic educational environment.
You may also:
- Hold a medical qualification recognisable in Australia and Fellowship of an Australian College or equivalent.
- Have experience in clinical teaching, medical education, and curriculum delivery.
- Possess highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Demonstrate strong organisational and administrative skills.
- Have a commitment to maintaining and improving medical education skills.
- Be familiar with rural health issues and the functioning of regional hospitals.

Your new team – “The Department of Rural Health”
The Department of Rural Health is a department within the Melbourne Medical School at the University of Melbourne. The Department is based in Shepparton, Ballarat, Bendigo (in partnership with Monash University and La Trobe University) and Wangaratta and has associations with more than 40 smaller rural towns in Victoria.
The key purpose of the Department is to provide professional health education and research training in a rural context with an aim to increase the rural health workforce.
The Department works closely with the local community and healthcare partners to ensure that we remain relevant and connected. Our partnerships underpin our teaching and research. The Department of Rural Health is funded primarily by the Australian Government Department of Health’s Rural Health Multidisciplinary Training (RHMT) Program.
